Ryan alum brings boutique, eco-friendly wine to Tennessee

As Middle Tennessee families set their holiday tables this year, Father Ryan High School alum Ryan Donnelly hopes they‘ll find a spot for his Sonoma County wine, Miracle One. Named after Jesus‘ first miracle of changing the water into wine during the wedding at Cana, Miracle One is also about ‘celebrating those everyday life miracles‘ with family and friends, Donnelly said. A 2001 graduate of Father Ryan, Donnelly brings a youthful energy to the boutique wine he produces and promotes with the help of his business partner, Lane Shackleton. Read Full Story..

From Nashville to Napa, From Sewanee to Sonoma

Miracle One co-owner and winemaker Ryan Donnelly is no stranger to the wine business. His grandfather, John Donnelly, Sr. helped create Athens Distributing in Middle Tennessee in 1946 and his father, John P. ‘Bubba‘ Donnelly, is currently the president. But Ryan forged a different path after studying at Sewanee, The University of the South, by working for wine giants Yellowtail of Australia and Cline Cellars of Sonoma, California before settling in at Stag‘s Leap Wine Cellars of Napa Valley. Miracle One is a new wine venture at a risky time considering the economy, but Ryan shares with us the impetus for Miracle One and what drives him as a young winemaker. Read Full Story..

The Miracle of Water Into Wine Continues

Local Choice - Miracle One

If you would indulge me a little on this post... there is a new wine I want you to know about. It comes from California and not Tennessee, hence it‘s not exactly a local wine. But, Miracle One is created by two college friends from Sewanee; one who grew up in Nashville and the other in Atlanta. And, after buying it from Grand Cru this afternoon, I am going to declare that local enough. Read Full Story..

Starting Out Sustainable: Home Team Wines Uses FSC Sustainable Corks

Sonoma, California, May 19th, 2009 - Home Team Wines announced today that, through a partnership with Cork Supply™, they are one of the first wine labels in the U.S. to use corks that are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified for their new 2007 releases: 'Miracle One' Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

In addition to being premium quality, 100-percent natural, renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and sustainable, these corks are both FSC Certified and Rainforest Alliance Certified™ to be responsibly sourced from well- managed forests. FSC Certification standards are supported by numerous global environmental organizations, including Greenpeace, Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation and The Nature Conservancy.

"As we produce wine, we are honest with ourselves that we create waste and consume resources. That said, we carefully examine all of our impacts and work hard to reduce or eliminate those impacts. Our use of FSC Certified natural corks is another step in aligning our environmental values with the wine packaging we use," said Lane Shackleton, Home Team Wines Co-Founder.
