About Miracle One

We created Miracle One in an effort to build community through our shared passion for wine.

When we met a decade ago in the mountains of Tennessee, we realized we shared many common life experiences and values. We both hailed from the South and were deeply rooted in a sense of family and an appreciation for simple living. We both grew up with a genuine care for the environment. Having traveled far and wide to make wine and explore new cultures - our shared experiences epitomize the wine we produce. Between the two of us, we're always pushing each other into the next crazy adventure.

It was our creative spirits which eventually brought us both to California. Our common thread was a passion for wine. Always looking to the future, we had discussed building something that was more than just a business. We knew that making our own wine was the next adventure we needed to explore our shared values and experiences. Above all, we knew that producing a wine would help us create the type of community we came from: simple and soulful.

David Brower had it right when he said 'There is no business to be done on a dead planet.' With the foundation of creating a lasting business centered around planet and people, it's impossible to ignore our impact on the earth. Put simply, we aim to produce wine while maintaining a minimal impact to the environment. We realize the near-impossibility of being completely sustainable, but we're taking every possible measure to reduce our impact on the environment.

More than just a wine. When we set out to make a wine, it was obvious that we weren't alone - from being called crazy to getting a helping hand, Miracle One is the work of many. For us, it's more about the community that created the wine than simply what you see on the shelf. We'd love to have you become a part of our journey.

Ryan Donnelly

My passion for wine began at an early age growing up in a family with a long history in the wine and spirits business. After graduating from the University of the South with a degree in Economics, I moved to Australia to work harvest for Yellow Tail. In Australia I fell in love with all aspects of growing and producing wine, quickly sparking an interest to create my own product. After harvest in Australia I left to catch the northern hemisphere grape harvest in Sonoma, CA. In Sonoma I worked harvest and into winter with Cline Cellars learning new winemaking techniques and styles. My curiosity for the best in winemaking methods led me to Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in Napa, CA. At Stag's Leap Wine Cellars I continued to learn and study winemaking under incredibly skilled cellar workers and winemakers. Lately, a drive to understand the science behind the wine has led me to winemaking and chemistry classes at U.C. Davis and Napa Valley College while working on Miracle One.

After graduating college with a degree in Natural Resources and Anthropology, I embarked on a variety of jobs and adventures including mountain guiding in Alaska, environmental consulting in Australia, and teaching kids about AIDS/HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa. I'm currently fascinated with technology and work for Google and YouTube while spending as much time as possible in the Pacific Ocean, climbing the walls of Yosemite and skiing in Lake Tahoe, CA. My love for wine started during college and materialized quickly. I'm a bit of a sprinter when it comes to activities and wine is no different. Once I discovered wine, I wanted to experience all the world's regions and learn the story behind the thousands of tremendous wines that are handcrafted around the globe. Now, I'm more excited than ever to be bringing our story and community into a wine of our own.
